Introduction

The M&S Grower Hub is an on-line portal for M&S UK growers and farmers whose products are supplied to M&S (“Growers”).  It contains resources for Growers and suppliers, including information about the M&S Farming with Nature Programme.

This policy explains how M&S uses any personal data which is collected or obtained from in connection with the M&S Grower Hub.

Purpose of this Policy

M&S may collect personal data (meaning information about individuals from which they can be identified) about growers and their workers (“Growers’ Personal Data”).  This Policy explains how we will use Growers’ Personal Data in connection with this M&S Grower Hub.

Compliance and our main Customer Privacy Policy

Marks and Spencer plc (“M&S”) is committed to handling personal data in line with data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation.  We will keep Growers’ Personal Data  secure and only use it in line with this Policy and our main Customer Privacy Policy.  Full information, including about relevant legal rights, can be found in that the main Customer Privacy Policy.

Use of images and personal data for promotional purposes on the Hub

M&S may use Growers’ Personal Data for promotional purposes.  This may include using photographs/images, names, and other biographical details and Growers’ comments or quotes, in hard copy. However, we will not use any images and other data attributable to identifiable individuals in public materials without first informing you and getting your agreement.

Types of personal data collected

Growers’ Personal Data collected by M&S may include:-

  • name and contact details such as company / business name, email address, telephone number; and
  • feedback and any personal data shared with M&S.

How we use your data

Personal data collected will be used in line with our main Customer Privacy Policy and data protection law and for the following purposes:-

  • To provide Growers with information and resources relating to our Farming with Nature Programme.
  • To operate and maintain the Hub and to communicate with Growers
  • To investigate grower feedback

 

Sharing Farmers’ Personal Data with third parties

Service providers acting on our behalf, including nGaje who host the platform for the Hub, and Brindley (Rural) Ltd who maintain the Hub website. They may access Growers’ Personal Data held on the Hub but they are only permitted to do so for the purposes set out above on behalf of M&S, and many not do so for any other purposes.

We may also Share Growers’ Personal Data with the following third parties where necessary for the purposes set out in this policy and in accordance with the law:

  • Any M&S direct supplier to whom you supply produce which is sold to M&S
  • Partners we work with in relation to the Farming with Nature Programme, including the Wildlife Trust and the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG)

We may also use Growers’ Personal Data for promotional and publicity purposes but only with the agreement of relevant individuals as set out above.
